Occupational Therapist

Alyssa is a registered and licensed OT, who earned her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Georgia State University in April 2024. Before that, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and earned a certificate in Disability Studies at the University of Georgia in 2020. During her time at Georgia State, she focused her studies on improving the independence and self-efficacy of women who have experienced traumatic brain injury due to intimate partner violence. With this, she learned the importance of trauma-informed care and further developed her passion for neurological rehabilitation. Alyssa has accumulated over 1,000 clinical hours in various fields, including mental health, outpatient pediatrics, outpatient orthopedics, and inpatient rehabilitation. She is also certified in Level I Blomberg Rhythmic Movement Training, and is currently pursuing her Level 2 certification.

Alongside her role at About Play Therapy, Alyssa also works as an OT at Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital of Atlanta. In this position, she is devoted to helping adults regain their independence following various injuries, illnesses, and disabilities. Her work is fueled by a deep commitment to enable others to reach their highest potential. Alyssa’s ultimate goal is to empower both children and adults to achieve greater independence and confidence, enabling them to lead more fulfilling lives.
