Kate is the founder and owner of AboutPlay Therapy. She received her degree in Occupational Therapy in January 1997 from Keuka College, New York. Kate has worked in hospitals (adult and pediatric) including Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, outpatient clinics, and in the natural environment. In 2002, she began seeing clients privately, starting AboutPlay therapy in children’s homes. Kate received her post graduate certification in Sensory Integration through University of Southern California and Western Psychological Services in 2012, and is certified to administer the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT).
Kate also has certification in Rhythmic Movement Training, Levels 1, 2 and 3, Myofascial Release (MFR) I and Unwinding, and the Haller Method, based on the work of Maxine Haller, OTR/L. Kate is an intuitive empath, and has always had a passion for holistic healing. She has trained in a number of holistic clinical modalities including aromatherapy, reflexology, meditation, and yoga. She is trained in Vibrational Synergy Levels 1 and 2, and is a Reiki Master. She has created an energetic modality called Auric Light Alchemy that she uses in both her adult practice, The Energetic Heart, and AboutPlay. Kate is passionate about the multifaceted ways that a person can heal and evolve, and is especially excited to help bridge intuitive and energetic practices with traditional occupational therapy in order to serve her clients in the best way possible. Kate lives in metro Atlanta with her family.

I’ve been fortunate to turn play into my profession since 2014, first as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, then as an Occupational Therapist since 2022.
Over the past 12 years, I’ve worked with incredible kids and their families in outpatient clinics, schools, and even on horseback through hippotherapy. Currently, I’m pursuing my doctorate in OT, which keeps me perpetually in student mode while juggling professional life.
When I’m not working or studying, you’ll find me playing with my daughter and partner, my cat, my family, or my friends—because play is an essential part of life at every age.

Jessica received her Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree from Nova Southeastern University in December of 2021, and began working at AboutPlay in April of 2024. Before joining the AboutPlay team, she worked as a pediatric OT in another therapy clinic in the Atlanta area. Jessica has her Basic Certificate in DIR/Floortime. She is working on becoming certified in Brain and Sensory Foundation (integration of primitive reflexes), and is certified in Level 1 Blomberg Rhythmic Movement Training. Prior to becoming an OT, Jessica graduated from Furman University majoring in Health Sciences. She thrives on relationship-building and encouraging others to explore their life’s “occupations”. Jessica is a life-long resident of metro Atlanta. She loves to travel and to spend time with her husband and their dog, Rudy.

Maggie received her Occupational Therapy degree from Brenau University in August 2015, and began working at About Play in October 2015. Before her masters degree, she worked as a music teacher at the Hirsch Academy (volunteer), floortime player through Floortime Atlanta, and created and led outdoor/music/art camps for children of all abilities since 2005. Maggie currently works with Outdoor Rec. Adventures as well, an outdoor therapy company that works with schools in Decatur and Atlanta to further develop and facilitate social interaction skills, gross motor, balance, and executive functioning skills.
Maggie is certified in Brain and Sensory Foundations (integration of primitive reflexes), and Level 1 Blomberg Rhythmic Movement Training. She is trained in Reiki levels 1 & 2, and believes nutrition, herbal remedies, and supplementation support the health and well-being of her clients, and encourages clients to seek guidance and support in this area. Maggie attended the Waldorf School of Atlanta from kindergarten through 12th grade, and developed a love for the arts, outdoors, hard work, and creativity that she hopes will bring energy and dedication to the Occupational Therapy profession. In her free time, Maggie enjoys crafting, gardening, cooking, hiking, yoga, and playing Appalachian and Old Time music.

Lily earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology and Neuroscience from Smith College in 2024. She’s passionate about exploring the science behind ADHD, ASD, and CPTSD. Lily believes that holistic healing and creative practices integrating mind and body offer the best support for these conditions. She’s pursuing this approach by facilitating flow breathwork classes at The Energetic Heart. In her free time, Lily enjoys horseback riding, painting, and dancing.
My 9 year old PG2E kid with severe sensory processing integration issues and significant asynchronous development has been working with AboutPlay for several years now. His needs include fine and gross motor, social and emotional development. We have had a fabulous experience with AboutPlay, the staff is incredibly professional, competent, patient and wonderful at creative solutions to encourage my child’s involvement in tasks he doesn’t want to work on. We have seen huge improvements in his developmental issues and their work has been a significant contributor to his ability to function in real world settings. I strongly recommend their services.
